PLASTICS MANUFACTURING · KAMPALA, UGANDA
Two plants. Zero downtime.
East Africa’s leading maker of UPVC and HDPE pipes, tanks and floor tiles. Both Kampala plants solar-powered and stabilised.
The challenge
Daily outages of one to four hours were stopping extrusion lines mid-run at the client’s Ntinda and Matugga plants. In plastics, a stopped line means scrapped product, not just lost time.
Voltage fluctuations were quietly adding to the wastage bill, while demand for irrigation equipment across Uganda, DRC, CAR and Sudan kept growing faster than the plants could reliably produce.
The solution
Ariya built a 2.6 MWp solar PV system with 2.6 MWh of battery storage and full power stabilisation across both plants: 100% voltage and frequency correction, with genset integration and Vision Controller monitoring.
The plants now operate profitably from 9am to 4pm even when fully off-grid. Outages and fluctuations no longer decide the production schedule.
